ConocoPhillips selling half of its Canadian oil sand holding

Houston based energy company ConocoPhillips Co. is told to be in its final stages of negotiations to relieve itself from as much as 50 percent of its Canadian oil sands holdings.

Various private and state-owned companies are told to have shown interest in the multibillion-dollar auction for which, ConocoPhillips had started accepting bids in July.

Various media have reported to be a consortium of three oil and gas companies in India. All three, ONGC Videsh Ltd., Indian Oil Corp. and Oil India Ltd., are state owned companies.
